It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run,
impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle.
Richard M. DeVos
There is a similarity that unites Jon Runyan, Score for the Cure, Ramblewood, golfers and cancer patients on September 21, 2010: the desire to fight and an abundance of passion. Runyan has battled on the football fields to unite his team, entertain others, and work towards victory. Regardless of defeat, Runyan continues to fight for his passion and for his team. In addition, he has decided to run for congress against others, and battle for a position where he could work to better our lives.
Golfers battle not only against their opponent but also against themselves. They desire to golf better than they had the day before, they are determined to become stronger and to advance their skills. Though, as anyone who has held a club knows, this feat is not an easy one. Whether the outcome is one of defeat or victory, a new battle begins with hole. Each hole is a new opportunity.
Many people have survived and conquered cancer because of their willingness to fight back. They are motivators because they fought a difficult battle, the fought for the battle of life. On September 21, 2010, we fight for life. We battle landscaping, diviting the greens, to fight against par. We fight in classy polos and drink savory wine. We fight the good fight, the fight of a good life.

One Step Closer...
There are two things you can do with your head down - play golf and pray. ~Lee Trevino
Score for the Cure will be celebrating its 6th anniversary- an anniversary to honor life, passion and fighting against the odds. This golf tournament began when John Goodwin, at Ramblewood Country Club, combined his commitment to service and his passion for golf. As human beings, we have an innate desire to help others and show compassion for those in times of hardship. John Goodwin saw an opportunity to help, and so he began Score for the Cure, which benefits prostate cancer research at Kimmel Cancer Center. All of us know someone who has been affected by cancer, and this event is a great way to lend a helping hand. The prayers of so many cancer patients call for a cure, for a breakthrough, for their dreams to be answered. Score for the Cure enables those prayers to be answered. So, pick up a club, forget about the worries of the world, and join us for a memorable day. We would love to see you there!
